“A Prayer For Unity” January 31, 2008

Father, we join our spirits with Your spirit so that the whole world will know that we are one in You.  We unite in purpose and oneness of heart as we go into the world and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to every region and every race.  A people that is divided against itself will surely fall, but a people united by a common foundation, motivated by the same purpose, will be strengthened. We look to You, as our Head, to impassion us with the desire to work together in rescuing the perishing as we trample down the forces of evil.  Your redemptive love binds our hearts together in perfect unity.

Father, we choose to follow You all the days of our life.  We find great assurance as we’re reminded that we will not be engulfed by the surrounding evil but instead Your light will guide us to eternal blessing.  Help us to walk by faith and not by sight holding onto Your promises as we continue to build a solid foundation through Your Holy Word.  It is in the Name of Jesus that we pray to You today.  Amen.

“A Prayer For The Home” January 28, 2008

Father, we as parents want to help build a Christ-centered home: with the teaching of Your Holy Word as our golden text for living.   Help us to instill love for acquiring knowledge and imparting wisdom.  May we be living examples of committed believers demonstrating those character qualities that bring glory and honor to You.  Because You have given us so much You now require us to give much in return.  May our home be a place that stimulates creativity, that offers opportunity for the study of music, of books, of hobbies where ideas can be shared and questions safely discussed. May Christ’s presence permeate our conversation and synchronize our hearts.

Father Your creation reveals that You are a lover of beauty, color, simplicity, and creativity. When disunity or rebellion crashes the loving setting that we so greatly desire, help us to reflect Your character of endurance, faithfulness and self -control.  Our example as leaders in the home is more often taken notice of when we’re required to deal with the undesirable circumstances of life. May our family, in as much as it is possible,  be a reflection of You whom we serve. Amen.

“Prayer Of Devotion” January 25, 2008

Father, there are those living among us who are “white-washed Christians.” Outwardly they appear to be believers by their conversation and Christian-like lifestyle. They look like gentle sheep but they are really dangerous like wolves dressed in sheep’s clothing.  These deceivers will be exposed at Your appointed hour since nothing is hidden from You.  But we also joyfully consider born-again believers whose hearts are genuinely devoted to You.  Their spirit is obedient to You even when tested by fire.  They live the noble life of a modern day disciple and show us the way through the narrow gate.  The vast majority reject this road, but we know that is it the divine road that leads to internal peace and eternal life.  May we, as true believers, extend our hands to others and walk them through this narrow gate that leads to life everlasting.

Heavenly Father, though we cannot see You in the heavenly kingdom, You do see us as we walk the pilgrim pathway.  You guide us through this earthly maze of sudden turns, strange territory, and even the disappointing dead ends.  Though we may be jostled from time to time in the midst of finding our way we are assured that You watch over us; our going in and our coming out.  You know our heart’s cry and You strengthen us as we choose to walk the path of righteousness. Our hearts are fully committed to You and we look to You, our Father, for all our spiritual, physical, emotional and financial needs.  Your continuous spritual presence brings sweet fellowship to our soul.  Amen.

Father, help us to be people who do not merely listen to the Word or read it hastily. Help us to do what it says so that we will be blessed in all that we do.  We receive Your favor and sense inner peace when we are obedient to You.  Help us to look intently into Your Holy Word and apply its teaching so that we enjoy freedom from sin, unceasing joy, and the promise of eternity spent with You.  With sincerity of heart we pray in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Father, You welcome all to be a part of Your kingdom: the young and the old, the weak and the strong, those born in ideal circumstances and those conceived in the worst imaginable setting.  All the days ordained for our lives were written in Your book before one of them came to be. Because You take broken vessels and piece them back together with Your miraculous healing touch no soul is without hope.  For those dedicated to spreading this message of life and hope to mothers and fathers of the unborn we pray that they will be spurred on by the power of Your Holy Spirit. May their voices make a welcoming difference to innocent lives in our hostile world, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Father, we look to You for hope that renews our faith and restores our strength.  In the midst of situations that challenge  and weary us, Your power and strength never diminish.  You never tire of us coming to You but rather You expect it.  The promise of Your strength helps us rise above life’s detours and difficulties.  We place our confidence in You, unchanging God, and develop the fruit of patience as we wait on You to fulfill the promises You’ve made in Your Word.  Amen.

Father, help me to be like a refreshing cup of cold water on a hot summer’s day to the friends You’ve given me.  May I contribute encouragement, comfort, wisdom, accountability, and loyalty to our friendship.  Help me to reserve judgment and faithfully pray for my friends as we walk together heart to heart and hand in hand.  Amen.

Father, as You created order in the universe You also created order and harmony in my life.  Sometimes it seems as though chaos triumphs over order, but then I take some quiet time with You in Your Word and find that You still my heart and calm my troubled spirit. You do uphold me by Your powerful promises reavealed in Your Word and through the presence of Your Holy Spirit that dwells within. Thank You for Your great faithfulness that I witness and experience each new day!  Amen.
