Father, may we desire to do Your will, to hide Your Word deep in our hearts so that we will not walk in the ways of sin but instead the paths of righteousness.  Help us to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness above all so that we will do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with You, our Lord and God.  Amen.

Father, we give thanks to You that we can walk in victory because of Your Son Jesus Christ.  Once we were held captive by sin and its enslavement, but we have been set free through the redemptive work of Jesus and His glorious resurrection.  Each day brings new challenges, but we overcome them through the blood of the Lamb.  Help us to stand firm in our faith and immovable in Your truths, as we daily serve You.  We are encouraged to know that nothing we do for You is in vain though we may not see immediate results.  Keep us obedient and trusting. In the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

Father, it’s interesting that we often plead for Your attention and certainly expect You to listen to our prayers and You assure us through Your Word that You hear us when we call on You.  But for true fellowship to exist we too must listen to Your voice through Scripture, through fellow believers, through Your many works of creation, and through Your still small voice that beckons our attention.  You have so much to tell us that will often encourage us, sometimes reprove us, but always spur us on to good works and needed spiritual perspective as we journey here below.  Help us to listen, to heed, and to be steadfast in our daily fellowship with You.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

Father You are a friend that never leaves us nor forsakes us.  When we feel that a friend has despised, betrayed, or misrepresented us we can take it to You in prayer because You know all about it.  You know the motive of our heart while others may not and You guide us accordingly.  Give us insight and wisdom regarding our relationships with those of the faith and those who are not.  Keep us from harboring a vengeful spirit or allowing bitterness to root within our hearts.  We want to grow and mature in the ways that make us more like You.  Help us to do so as we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ancient of Days, You have given us Your Holy Word as a spiritually historical foundation to build our lives upon.  Through the centuries Your greatness is demonstrated through ordinary people just like us and through Your awesome acts that reveal Your incomparable power and divine attributes.  History in the past and history in the making is subordinate to Your sovereign work in the lives of Your people.  We lovingly submit ourselves into Your merciful hands.  Amen.

God of past ages,
Lord of this morning,
Lord of the future,
Help us, we pray:
Teach us to trust You,
Love and obey You,
Crown You each moment
Lord of today.
(Margaret Clarkson – sung to tune of “Morning Has Broken”)

Father, You do the impossible and provide for our every need.  You divided the sea and led the Israelites through to safety.  You guided them with the cloud by day and the fire by night.  You split rocks in the desert and gave water in abundance.  You rained down manna and gave them more than they could eat.  And yet in spite of all this they kept on sinning; in spite of Your miraculous wonders they did not believe.  What a picture this is for us today when we put You to the test, when we rebel against Your statutes, when we abandon Your truths.  Father, search our hearts today and see if there be unbelief or wickedness within.  Cleanse us by the fire of Your Holy Spirit so that we may be renewed in spirit and resolved in our absolute commitment to be faithful in our walk.  No matter the wilderness ahead we are guided by You to safety and we are consoled by the fact that the Promised Land awaits those who endure to the end.  Amen.

Father, though we don’t know the day nor the hour, You already have the blessed event of Christ’s return on Your heavenly calendar.  Even as the Son of Man ascended into heaven He will come again, but this time we have the blessed hope of ascending with Him in the air and joining with those of like precious faith.  Thank You for loved ones and witnesses of the truth who have repeated this glorious life-transforming message to us over the years preparing our hearts for this major event.  May it be the resounding message from our lips as we anticipate the glorious moment when we will all be changed in the twinkling of an eye.  Amen.

Father, we thank You for the liberty that sets us free from a fear-driven, rigid list of do’s and don’ts of what we can and can’t do.  Instead we choose to be led by Your Holy Spirit.  As the Spirit shapes our thinking and sharpens our senses we become sensitive to behavior that grows our spiritual nature and behavior that feeds the fleshly nature.  While freeing us from legalism through Your Spirit, You also warn us not to turn our freedom into gratification for our sinful flesh.  Instead we are to be bound by love which is not self-seeking but instead looks out for the other person as we serve one another in love. As we live this way You make us a holy people, pleasing and acceptable in Your sight.  May our spiritual nature be the driving force behind the choices we make from day to day as we submit to You and serve others.  We pray for this in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Father, how grateful we are that Your grace is so much greater than our sin.  Our spiritual burden is lightened when we ponder the Scripture, “Where sin abounds, grace doth much more abound.”  We do not want to be overcome by evil but we want to overcome evil with good and the way that we can do this is to absorb, maintain, and uphold the Scriptural understanding of good and evil.  We pray against authorities, personalities, and persuasive rhetoric that tempts us to compromise or water down the truths we learn from Scripture.   The contrasts of light vs. darkness, good vs. evil, the spiritual nature vs. the sinful nature are abundant in Scripture.  May the guiding light by which we live our lives in these evil days be the light of Your Holy Word.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

Father, we thank You for Jesus who bore such a passion for lost humanity that He gave His all to be  clothed in the garb of humanity, so that He could identify with the physical weaknesses, spiritual temptations and other frailties common to humankind.  As we present the Person of Jesus described in the Bible to those who are lost and dying in their sins, we give them a hope and light that leads them out of deepening despair to glorious transformation.  We cannot make the choice for them, but we can give them opportunity as we obey the great commission Jesus gave before He ascended to heaven, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.   And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
