“A Christmas Prayer”

December 24, 2018

Father, even as You spoke through the angel to the shepherds when Christ was born you still speak today. Much of the Christmas celebration is like noisy gongs and clanging symbols because it lacks the main story of the Christ Child. As we contemplate the Christmas story young Mary is a prime example of one whose yielded heart withstood the ridicule and awkwardness of her special role in the miraculous conception and birth of the Savior of the world. Help us to tune out the noisy gongs and join Mary, the mother of Jesus, who submitted her whole heart to God when she responded to the angelic messenger, “Be it unto me according to Your Word.” Through her obedience we welcomed Jesus, our Saviour and Redeemer into the world. Thank you for sending Him, Father, and we thank You, Jesus, for coming. Amen.
