“A Prayer Of Thanks For Daily Blessings”

June 28, 2011

Praying manFather, we are abundantly blessed with foods of all kinds, both vegetable and fruit, meat and bread.  Thank you for those who diligently work the land and reap the harvest that we might place food on our tables and be nurtured physically.  You make the grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate— bringing forth food from the earth.  All we have needed Your hand hath provided. Great is Your faithfulness, Lord, unto me.  Amen.

A Prayer Of Thanks For Unheralded Servants”

June 13, 2011

Praying manFather, keep our hearts open to those who are in need of a compassionate touch, a charitable act, or a kind word. Let it come naturally from our hearts that are in tune with the heart of Jesus. May I view others through the eyes of Christ, walking in His compassion and His benevolent ways. We thank you for the scores of people like Dorcas and Naomi who have served you in local churches all through the church age.  I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

“A Prayer Of Thankfulness For The Cross”

April 21, 2011

Praying man Jesus, Your sacrificial death on the cross became the tree of life for all who believe. It is the highest expression of love not only for those who bore the nails in Your hands and shouted “Crucify, crucify.” It is also for all generations who follow that were born under the sin curse. How grateful we are that You came from the glories of heaven to crush the head of the serpent, as You conquered death through Your miraculous resurrection so that we might be redeemed from the law of sin. We will partake of the tree of life in heaven because You partook of the cross of death here on earth. All glory and praise is due Your name.  Amen.

“A Prayer For Understanding”

April 5, 2011

Praying man Father, we’re so thankful for the parables Jesus spoke in the gospels where You connect listeners in their everyday living with the teachings that have eternal impact. Since we’re often perplexed by life’s experiences and need supernatural understanding or wise counsel the parables provide wisdom and guidance to direct us in the daily events of our lives. Thank You for presenting heavenly truths in a format that helps us to relate and grasp spiritual meaning for our lives. The parables of Christ, though presented over 2000 years ago, have not diminished in their application because You are speaking to the spiritual and physical needs of Your creation. We continue to need Your divine intervention and Biblical instruction for daily living as we walk this pilgrim pathway. Thank You for Jesus in whose name we pray. Amen.

“A Prayer For Satisfaction”

March 4, 2011

Praying manJesus, as I draw near to You in reading Your Word and in lifting my voice to You this day there is a renewal in my spirit. I recognize that my joy and satisfaction will not be determined by the events of this day, but by the state of my heart. When human love is fleeting and disappointments arise help me to look beyond my present circumstance. As the Psalmist wrote, “Earth has nothing I desire besides You”, I also look to You for ongoing fulfillment to meet my every longing. Thank you that Your joy does not last for a season, but for a lifetime on earth and an eternity in heaven. Amen.

“A Prayer Of Thankfulness For Adoption”

March 3, 2011

Praying manFather, we thank You that according to Your pleasure and good will You chose to adopt us, to make us Your sons and daughters through Christ Jesus.  We were predestined to receive this tremendous blessing and so we say, “Thank You!”  May our lives along with our message bring honor to You whose name we bear as we go forth into the lost world where the vast majority needs to hear the message of salvation.  They need to know that they are loved and cared for.  We want to be Your hand extended to those who are hungry and looking for the answers we have found as Your sons and daughters.  We give praise and thanksgiving through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

“A Prayer For A Heart Of Gratitude”

February 22, 2011

Praying manFather, our blessings come from a variety of sources, but they originate from Your generous and loving interest on our behalf.  You love to give!  In fact, You gave the ultimate gift in the sacrifice of Your Son who took the penalty for our sins.  When we consider the blessings of family, friends, work, food, and other daily comforts it stirs up a heart of gratitude. Help us to overflow in thanksgiving so that it spills out to those around us even in the midst of hardship or devastation.  When the “norm” of life is turned upside down we, in faith, look more to You and can find blessings that we hadn’t considered on a normal day.  Help our brothers and sisters in the city of Christchurch as they recover from the recent destructive earthquake.  So much of our time, money and attention is given to maintaining buildings, programs and otherwise but when a community is stripped of these seeming essentials it is then that we more fully invest in one another’s lives and their critical needs.  Bless, protect and guide the relief workers we pray.  In the name of Jesus we praise and thank You,  Amen.

“A Prayer Of Thanks For The Incarnation”

December 6, 2010

Thankful manJesus, You stooped down from heaven to take on flesh and dwell among us as You became the supreme example of God in the flesh. In Your humanness You were victorious in the raging battle against the spiritual forces of evil when faced with temptations and trials common to all people.  We stand in glorious victory as we follow Your example and hold to Your unchanging truths.  It is in the powerful name of Jesus that we pray.   Amen.

“A Prayer Of Thanks For The Cross”

December 3, 2010

Thankful manFather, we’re grateful for Jesus who provided the answer for the sin problem for all time.  Without the cross there would be no redemption; no forgiveness for our sins; no hope for this life or the next; no sin-free eternity for the redeemed.  That which was man’s greatest problem had no earthly fix, but You sent Jesus to be born in a hallowed manger to be the solution to our desperate condition.  To those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior it is a joyous walk.  The weight of sin is lifted and the shield of salvation empowers us for Jesus is our Master.  But to those who reject Jesus the weight of sin continues to dominate their lives and enslave them to the schemes of Satan who is their master.  We lift high the banner of the cross of Jesus as we walk in His resurrected power, and it is also in His name that we pray.  Amen.

“A Prayer Of Praise And Thanksgiving”

November 29, 2010

Thankful manFather, as we give praise to You we are offering our heartfelt thanks for who You are and all that You do on our behalf.  As we mature in our walk with You we realize that there are many occasions when we must offer a sacrifice of praise since it doesn’t always come easily nor often enough. It is in those circumstances that we willfully choose to praise You out of obedient hearts desirous of pleasing You and glorifying Your name. May our words be fruitful and our thoughts praiseworthy in the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.
