“A Prayer For Genuine Satisfaction”

January 30, 2014

Thankful man Father, far too often our minds can be consumed with things that only money can buy which can also bring discontent for that which we already have. Help us to focus our hearts on that which has lasting value, that brings eternal dividends. As we lift our voice to You this day and turn our hearts toward Your unfailing love we find joy and satisfaction that will not be determined by the events or non-events of this day. When human love is fleeting or disappoints help us to look to Your unfailing love which satisfies. We want to listen carefully to You, eat what is good, and delight ourselves in Your abundance. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

“A Prayer For Living Abundantly”

July 9, 2013

Praying man Father, You made it possible for us to experience this earthly journey in abundance when You sent Jesus to earth. He came that we might have the fullness of the Spirit within our lives. The devil comes to steal from us and destroy our lives but as we test Your Word we find that You supply in abundance Your peace, joy, purpose for living and an overcoming spirit in the midst of the enemy’s arsenal of weaponry. Through many tribulations we will enter Your Kingdom, but it will be worth it all when we see Christ. Keep us faithful till then. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

“A Prayer For Contentment”

November 26, 2012

Praying manFather, so many of us live in a state of discontent when the desire for things consumes our thoughts and actions. We enjoy material things and their day to day function in our lives, but we want to place a higher value on greater pursuits such as growing friendships, solidifying marriage relations, developing godly character, giving without expecting to receive, standing for and giving to worthy causes, especially those of eternal value. On and on the list goes. We will be content as we rejoice in the fact that whether we are in want or whether we have plenty You have promised that You will never leave us nor forsake us. What a treasured promise for the believer at all times. We are content when we realize our all-sufficiency is in You, Lord. And You will meet all our needs according to Your riches in glory. Amen.

“A Prayer Recognizing God’s Blessings”

December 1, 2011

Praying man Father, there is nothing that we have need of that You do not supply. Your benevolent nature gives us far more than we need and abundantly provides pleasurable and comfortable material possessions. Help us to know the difference between that which is essential, such as food, clothing and shelter, from the inessentials that make life a bit more comfortable and eases our work load. We are indebted to You for all that we have and want to be careful to share with those who have less. We thank You that Your divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of You who has called us by Your own glory and goodness.  Amen.

“A Prayer For An Eternal Focus”

November 30, 2011

Praying woman Father, would You show us through Your Holy Spirit and the Holy Scriptures and by the examples of committed believers what it is to live for the eternal. It seems that we indulge with the world far too much and it prioritizes our time, finances, and interests. As we love You more, we love the things of the world less. We see them for what they really are – temporary, broken, and/or sin-ridden. As we fix our eyes on You the things of this world grow strangely dim. We want to spend more time with You which will direct our thoughts and affections toward heaven. We want to deposit our investments there so that our treasure chest is growing with rust-proof, moth-proof, and thief-proofed treasures that last for all eternity.  In the Name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

“A Prayer For Godliness With Contentment”

November 29, 2011

Praying man Father, when I get overly anxious about having the latest gadget or the newest fashion I usually overlook the fact that I have so much already at my disposal. So much, in fact, that I struggle to properly manage my possessions and can be overwhelmed with clutter. Thank you for the people who live with less so that others can have more; more of the basics of life and the provisions needed to reach others with the Gospel message. Contentment from You cannot be packaged and sold, but it can be a way of life as we align our priorities in accordance to Your will. Teach us the great gain we experience by setting our heart’s affections not on this world’s changing and peril-stricken economy, but by storing up treasures in heaven’s economy where eternal riches never perish, spoil or fade. May that precious truth help us find contentment in a non-content society.  In the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

Fret not for want of earthly things, they’ll never satisfy;
The secret of contentment is to let the Lord supply. —DJD

“A Prayer For Contentedness”

November 28, 2011

Praying man Father, help us to prayerfully apply Your Scriptures so that we can learn to be content in any and every situation. A godly contentment will fill our hearts with peace in place of an anxious heart that keeps us in angst as we struggle to obtain the newest or latest gadget or comfort. Help us to fix our eyes on You, not others as we pursue holiness. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

“A Prayer For A Contented Heart”

November 15, 2011

Praying man Father, I know that godliness with contentment is of great benefit. It gives me a state of mind that is calm and satisfied; free from murmuring and complaining.  I’m reminded that it takes little of this world’s goods to satisfy one whose citizenship is of another country.  Help me to hold loosely to that which does not last beyond this life, and to clasp tightly that which has eternal significance.  May the character of my soul and the fruit of my actions be of much greater importance than the perishable items that are alluring to me. I look to You for proper balance in the things You have blessed me with and the attitude in which I receive these good things from Your hands.

Praying man Father, far too many live in a state of discontent where we find ourselves loving things and using people. It distorts our priorities and gives us temporary excitement with things, but leaves us with long-term dissatisfaction in ourselves and our relationships. Help us to enjoy material things but to place a higher value on greater pursuits such as growing friendships, solid marriage relations, growing godly character, giving without receiving and other worthy goals. We will be content as we rejoice in the fact that whether we are in want or whether we have plenty You have promised that You will never leave us nor forsake us.  What a treasured promise for the believer both in times of need and in times of prosperity. We are content when we realize our all-sufficiency is in You, Lord. You will meet all our needs according to Your riches in glory. Amen.

A Prayer For Contentedness”

July 12, 2011

Praying manFather, You are the Giver of all good things.  You have given us so much and we are indeed grateful.  Move upon our hearts to be generous with our resources.  When we’re tempted to look at other’s possessions in comparison to our own, bring to our mind those who have less rather than those who have more.   This will help us to be more prayerful and generous toward those who are without.  It will also help us to be less whining and more content with what we have.  Amen.
