“A Prayer For Treasuring God’s Word”

October 16, 2014

Praying man Father, Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.  I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You. Direct me in the path of Your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to Your Word. Let me live that I may praise You and may Your laws sustain me. My heart is set on keeping Your decrees to the very end.  Amen.

(Prayer based on verses from Psalm 119)

“A Prayer Of Thanks For God’s Word”

July 23, 2014

Praying man Father, You bless those those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. The sweetness of Your Word is like sweet honey in our mouth that reminds us of Your faithfulness, Your goodness and Your mercy that overflows into our lives as You forgive us of our sins and provide us with an abundant life. Your Words are a sweet savor to our soul as we walk obediently according to Your Word. Amen.

“A Prayer For Storing Up God’s Commands”

September 4, 2013

Praying man Father, I want to store up Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.  It is my Guiding Light so that as I live by faith I will triumph over evil. Help me to rebuke the devil’s temptations with Scripture just as Jesus did during the wilderness temptations. I may be weak, but Your Word is powerful to fight off the temptation to sin and to reassure me that You are with me even when others may forsake me. As a sign of my love for You I will obey Your commands and heed Your instruction. I can do this because I have stored up Your truths and commands in my heart and because Christ gives me strength.  Amen.

“A Prayer For Defenders Of Truth”

August 21, 2013

Praying manFather, as we set You apart in our heart from everything that is common, we begin to lay hold of Your holiness, Your power and goodness, justice and truth which also gives us an even greater reason for the hope that we have in You. The basis of our hope is in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, who conquered the enemy of our soul. We defend our faith with gentleness and respect lest we espouse a superior attitude or reveal any attitude that is inconsistent with Your compassionate and just nature. May Your indwelling Spirit guide us in love and truth as we seek to reach others with the message of hope and forgiveness through Christ Jesus our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.

“A Prayer For God’s Penetrating Word”

April 23, 2013

Praying manFather, Your Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. The radiant light of Your Scripture goes before us dispelling the darkness of the enemy. It is living and active; therefore, it is always relevant, right up to date, and a foundation for our soul. Help us not to turn to the right nor to the left, but to keep our eyes fixed on Your Holy Word and our hearts tuned to the Holy Spirit so that we will be faithful to the very end of this life as we know it. Eradicate both visible and hidden sin that would stand in the way of our hearing Your words of commendation on the other side, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Amen.

“A Prayer For Sensitivity To God’s Promptings”

September 10, 2012

Praying man Father, would You help us to be quick to recognize and respond to Your brake promptings. Often You speak to us through Scripture, daily prayer, and other believers. You also speak to us through the undesirable consequences that come from our acts of disobedience. We want to see Your cautions and “stops” as part of Your loving way of keeping us from danger and redirecting us to that which will be of blessing in our lives and to those whom we seek to influence. Amen.

“A Prayer For Attentiveness To God’s Word”

August 14, 2012

Praying man Father, all wisdom, knowledge, and understanding needed for life and godliness is contained in the Holy Scriptures. Help us to be careful, attentive students of the Word, ever learning, and always applying that which the prophets of old and disciples of Christ have revealed to us through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. That which shines so brightly on the horizon of our lives today will someday fade and vanish away, but the Word of our God stands forever and is demonstrated in our lives for all eternity. Amen.

“A Prayer Expressing That Which Is Of First Importance”

April 11, 2012

Praying man Father, it is of first importance to the Apostle Paul to declare that Jesus is risen from the dead and is alive forevermore. So it is also of first importance some 2000 years later for those of us who hold dear the sacred Scriptures to joyfully declare the miraculous news that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. Jesus is the living One; He was dead but is alive forevermore!  Praise God!!

“A Prayer Of Thanks For The Unchanging Word Of God”

March 8, 2012

Praying man Father, we are grateful for the prophets through whom You spoke Your unchanging Word.  Each from age to age proclaimed You, the one, righteous Lord.  In this world of despair and turmoil, You are the one firm anchor holding us fast.  You are King, Your throne is eternal; You are the First and You are the Last.  You spoke through Christ Jesus, Your everlasting Son, Light of Light, to earth He descended, Christ as God in human form.  God, You continue to speak by Your Spirit in Your ageless Holy Word expounding Your own message, now as then.  Through the rise and fall of nations one sure faith still holds us fast; You abide, Your Word unchanging, You are the First and You are the Last.  Though all hell should endeavor to shake this firm foundation we have built through Your Holy Word, we will never forsake it, for the darkened veil will soon be lifted and we will see You face to face in the fullness of Your glory. Praise be to God!  Amen.

“A Prayer For Diligence In The Study Of God’s Word”

January 5, 2012

Praying man Father, we want to be diligent in our study of the Word of God, not only to receive Your approval, but to more fully understand Your plan for our lives.  Thank You for the Bible that’s like a road map showing us where to go and how to get there.  And the greatest blessing is that Your Spirit illumines the path before us so that we do not walk in the dark, but we walk in the power of the Holy Spirit who shows us the way to life everlasting.  Keep us on the right path, we pray. Amen.
